West Bengal Government Notification related to Government Holidays, Public Holidays, Holidays under Negotiable Instruments Act (N.I. Act) etc.
In view of the present heat wave prevailing over the State it has been decided to prepone the summer vacation for a few days so as to start on and from 15th – 16th May, 2012.
Due to sad demise of Shri Subrata Saha, Hon’ble Minister of State, Government of West Bengal, all Government Offices will be closed on 29.12.2022 from 2.00 p.m. for paying homage and respect to the departed soul of the dignitary.
You are requested to pass necessary instructions so that schools will re-open after Puja holidays on 27th October, 2014. The matter has been discussed with Hon’ble Minister-in-Charge.
Due to extreme hot conditions prevailing in the State it has been decided that classes will remain suspended in all Government, Government Sponsored and Non-Government aided schools (Primary to Higher Secondary) from 16.06.2014 to 25.06.2014.

Governor has been pleased to declare the 3rd April, 2023 (Monday) as Public Holiday on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instrument Act, 1881.
Governor is pleased to declare 6th September, 2022 [Tuesday] as a Sectional Holiday on occasion of KARAM PUJA for the employees belonging to Tribal Communities employed in State Govt. Offices all over the State.
Governor has been pleased to declare that all offices under the Government of West Bengal with few exception will be closed at 2:00 P.M. on 01.07.2016.
Governor is pleased to declare 26th October, 2017 (Thursday) as a Sectional holiday and 27th October (Friday) as a General holiday for State Govt. Offices.
All Govt. and Non-Govt. aided-Madrasahs located in Purba Medinipur, Paschim Medinipur, Jhargram, South 24 Parganas, North 24 Parganas, Howrah, Hooghly and Kolkata shall remain closed on 3rd May and 4th May, 2019.
