West Bengal Government Notification related to Government Holidays, Public Holidays, Holidays under Negotiable Instruments Act (N.I. Act) etc.
Uniform list of maximum number of holidays to be observed in the academic session-2015 (01 January, 2015 to 31 December, 2015). The total number of Holidays in the Academic Year would be fixed at 65 days.
Doljatra 5th March, Good Friday 3rd April, Birth day of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar 14th April, Bengali New Year’s Day 15th April, May Day 1st May, Birth Day of Rabindra Nath Tagore 9th May.
Please pass necessary instructions that the schools will re-open as per original academic calendar on 27th October, 2014 after the Puja holidays. The matter has been discussed with Hon’ble Minister-in-Charge.

In cancellation of the earlier notification, all Government, Government sponsored and Non-Government aided and unaided schools will reopen on 27th October, 2014 after Puja holidays as per holiday list of W.B.B.S.E.
Emergency units of all Hospitals upto the level of Bedded PHCs will remain open on 24X7 hrs basis in order to tackle any disaster if arise during Puja Holidays.
All Government, Government sponsored and Non Government aided and unaided schools will reopen on 13th October, 2014 after Puja holidays in view of completing the classes in this academic year.
All offices under the Government of West Bengal will be closed at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, the 17th day of September, 2014 on account of celebration of Vishwakarma Puja.
6th September, 2014 has been declared as Sectional Holiday on account of ‘Karam Puja’ for the employees belonging to Tribal communities.
