West Bengal Government Notification related to Government Holidays, Public Holidays, Holidays under Negotiable Instruments Act (N.I. Act) etc.
Governor is pleased to notify the 17th March, 2014, day after Doljatra (on 16th March, 2014), as a holiday in all the offices under the Government of West Bengal.
Governor has been pleased to declare the 3rd April, 2023 (Monday) as Public Holiday on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instrument Act, 1881.
Heads of all recognized Madrasahs are being requested to follow the List of holidays – 2022 (01 January, 2022 to 31 December, 2022) as per specimen list of holidays attached herewith.
No separate notification of holiday on account of the Birth Day of Late Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, Ex-Chief Minister of West Bengal is required to be issued.
Due to adverse weather condition, classes will remain suspended in all Government, Government Sponsored and Non-Government Aided schools (primary to higher secondary) from 11th April, 2016 until further order.
Governor is pleased to declare 14th May, 2018 (Monday) to be a public holiday under the N.I. Act, 1881 for the aforesaid districts for Panchayat General Elections 2018.
Governor is pleased to declare Thursday, the 12th January, 2012, the birthday of Swami Vivekanda as a Public holiday. This is in partial modification of earlier Notification No. 10972-F(P) dated 07.12.11.
Governor is pleased to declare 13th September, 2016, Tuesday as Public Holiday on account of Id-Ud-Joha under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instrument Act, 1881.
In view of celebration of Jamai Sasthi, all offices under the Govt. of West Bengal shall be closed at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, 14th June, 2013.
Summer vacation has been rescheduled and will start from 2nd May, 2014 and will end on 31st May, 2014 because of prevailing heat wave across the State.
