West Bengal Government Notification related to Government Holidays, Public Holidays, Holidays under Negotiable Instruments Act (N.I. Act) etc.
Summer vacation has been rescheduled and will start from 2nd May, 2014 and will end on 31st May, 2014 because of prevailing heat wave across the State.
In view of the Parliamentary Election-2014 to be held on 17th, 24th, 30th April 2014, 7th & 12th May, 2014 in the different Parliamentary Constituencies and simultaneous Bye-election to 6 (six) Assembly Constituencies in this State, the Government has declared the said days as public holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.
Governor is pleased to notify the 17th March, 2014, day after Doljatra (on 16th March, 2014), as a holiday in all the offices under the Government of West Bengal.
Heads of all recognized Madrasah are being informed that for the current academic session 2014, the Madrasahs shall have to observe a uniform list of holidays as per Model list of holidays attached herewith. The maximum numbers of holidays for this academic session will be 65 days.

Elections/ Bye-elections to the Municipalities/ Municipal Corporation to be held on 22.11.2013 in different Districts in the State declared as public holiday.
Governor is pleased to notify the 1st day of January, 2014, as a holiday in all the offices under the Government of West Bengal with the exception of the offices of the Registrar of Assurances, Kolkata and Collector of Stamp Revenue, Kolkata.
Governor is pleased to declare 15th November’ 2013, Friday as public holiday on account of Muharram under section 25 of the Negotiable Instrument Act, 1881 in place of 14th November’ 2013, Thursday.
