West Bengal Government Notification related to Government Holidays, Public Holidays, Holidays under Negotiable Instruments Act (N.I. Act) etc.
Governor is pleased to declare 24th September, 2015 as a Sectional Holiday on account of KARAM PUJA for the employees belonging to Tribal Communities in different offices of West Bengal.
No separate notification of holiday on account of the Birth Day of Late Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, Ex-Chief Minister of West Bengal is required to be issued.
Every year 1st July is celebrated as Doctors’ Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of Late Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, Ex-Chief Minister of West Bengal, and a half day holiday for the offices under State Government is notified.
Summer Vacation in Madrasah is shifted to 2nd May, 2014 to 24th May, 2014 due to extreme hot weather instead of from 22nd May, 2014 to 8th June, 2014. Total number of holidays for this academic year must not exceed 65 days.
Teachers and other staffs who have duty in connection with the Joint Entrance Examination on 17.05.2016 will attend school and discharge their functions as required by WBJEEB.
Governor is pleased to declare 14th May, 2018 (Monday) to be a public holiday under the N.I. Act, 1881 for the aforesaid districts for Panchayat General Elections 2018.
Governor is pleased to declare 27th December, 2025 (Saturday) as a Sectional Holiday on account of ‘Prakash Purab’ of Guru Gobind Singh Ji for the employees belonging to Sikh community.
In view of the present heat wave prevailing over almost the entire State it has been decided to further extend the summer vacation till 17.06.2012.
You are requested to pass necessary instructions so that schools will re-open after Puja holidays on 27th October, 2014. The matter has been discussed with Hon’ble Minister-in-Charge.
Governor is pleased to declare 7th November, 2016 as a Holiday on account of CHHAT PUJA for all the Employees of State Government and Govt. Undertakings.
