No. 290-WT/TR/3M-01/2017 Date:- 20-1-2017

NOTIFICATION

Road safety has attained paramount importance and the State Government has launched the ‘safe drive-save life‘ campaign across the State. Regular checks of vehicles not only reduce vehicular pollution but also improve the road safety scenario. Value addition to the usual process of checks of transport vehicles for issuing Certificate of Fitness (CF) has therefore been an important issue under consideration of the Government of sometime past.

After careful review of the matter the Governor has been pleased to decide that intending vehicle manufacturers having their workshops with prescribed facilities in the State will be encouraged to set up testing stations and such testing stations will be authorised in terms of section 56(2) of MV Act 1988 subject to regulation and control of such stations by concerned registering authority under the provisions as laid down in Rules 63-72 of CMV Rules 1989.
