I have been appointed as a computer science teacher in HS section in our school. In the current year, only one student has taken computer science in XI. My HM is introducing computer application for arts student this year and she ordered me to take classes for both the subjects in XI and XII. She has taken a written application from me. Previously I have written, valuing her request, i am accepting to take classes, but, she returned the application and asked me to write that, i am willing to take classes and the request is from my side. I am compelled to apply in this manner and she asked me that as in XI their is only one student, my service is under question mark and if i am not agreeing to take computer application as well, that would be bad for me. In this situation, what should I do?

As per govt order 190 Edn (H.S) dt 05/12/1979 you must have to take classes for computer application besides computer science, as these are related to each other.

You can refer to the head master’s manual for the circular. a similar problem has occurred in our school (Champdani nibaran Mukhopadhyay Vidyamandir, Champdani, Hooghly). However, it has to kept in mind that the S.S.C. does not permit a candidate having a degree in Computer Science to appear for the post of the teacher of Computer application. Hence it can be logically derived that S.S.C. does not consider you competent to teach/ give instruction in Computer application. So by no means anyone can compel you to teach Computer application for that would be against the interest of the student community. As far as your service is concerned it is not your responsibility to ensure that there is a sizeable number of students in the subject you teach. Since your post has been sanctioned as per govt. rules the responsibility lies with the post sanctioning authority and not yourself. At any rate whatever the number of students, you will not lose your job. That is out of question. But you should not have submitted your application to the headmaster as per his dictates. In case of his refusal to accept your application you should have send it to him by registered post. you may contact S.S.C. for further clarification. -
