You are not allowed to sign the attendance registrar as you are officially on Maternity Leave. It means that you are OFFICIALLY ABSENT from exam. duty. You are basically rendering proxy service for some other teacher who is OFFICIALLY assigned with the exam. duty in ABSENCE of you! Your H.M. is compelled to manage the situation by adopting such unfair means.
January 27, 2013 at 7:52 am #76553AnonymousInactiveIf you are able to do the duty and ofcourse if you don’t have to officially sign in any document for giving the exam, you may attend to do the ‘proxy service’. As it is you work place and it is always better to have a cordial relationship there. In the given situation, your H.M. can not officially force you to give the exam, nor even he can cancel the Maternity Leave which is already approved. It appears that he is doing it due to non-availability of appropriate number of teachers to conduct the exam properly. If you feel that your condition permits you to give the exam, I suggest that you do it. In that case, tell your H.M. that in spite of difficulties, you are giving the exam only to honour his request and as you are officially ‘Absent’ from duty, you can not sign any official document during the course of exam.
That can yield better result in future cases.January 28, 2013 at 4:28 am #76563AnonymousInactiveIt appears that he is doing it due to non-availability of appropriate number of teachers to conduct the exam properly. @jayita: I think it would be the best action from your end.
However let your HM know that being the only teacher, it is obligatory to perform the duty is absolutely baseless statement.January 28, 2013 at 4:35 pm #76570AnonymousInactive……As it is you work place and it is always better to have a cordial relationship there. ……….. tell your H.M. that in spite of difficulties, you are giving the exam only to honour his request …………………..
That can yield better result in future cases.I fully support the above suggestions which is rather a mature approach! Since H.M. is under compulsion to tackle the situation, you may also extend kind cooperation to him if your health conditions permit.

I think there are some aspects of practical exams. which are taken care of by the teachers of that particular subject. This is the difference in invigilation duties of theoretical and practical exams. Teachers of other subjects may not be knowing the apparatuses or other things used for practical classes of a particular subject. This is a practical problem.
January 29, 2013 at 2:06 am #76577AnonymousInactiveWhat is your subject madam?
There are so many H.S Schools where only one H.S subject teacher (example our School). Before 7 yrs (app.) our Biology teacher was retire, now think the situation! You have not to wait up to Practical examination just think about normal Biology H.S classes! We just engage a part-time teacher whose salary was given from School fund and he works up to the next Teacher coming from SSC.
In this case due to lack of plans from School management this unbelievable matter is occur!
From my personal experience if deputed teacher is not engage and if school examination will fall during your maternity leave, then answer scripts will also send to your home for evaluation.January 30, 2013 at 1:37 pm #76626AnonymousInactiveactually the thing happened like, I have not taken the exam as the doctor suggested me to take bed rest in my present situation. The Headmistress appointed a part time teacher to take the exam and I had to check the khatas and to sign in the khatas as examiner and invigilator as well. I just want to know, whether it will create a problem for me in future or not?
January 30, 2013 at 2:09 pm #76629AnonymousInactiveNormally it would not make any problem.

I agree that she can check the exam. scripts – no problem at all.
However, when a lady teacher was not officially on invigilation duty in school, and when there is no record of her presence in the attendance register how can she put signature in exam scripts as an ‘invigilator’?? SHE WAS OFFICIALLY ON LEAVE (OFF DUTY) ON THAT EXAM. DATE. No employee can be ‘on duty’ and ‘off duty’ simultaneously on a particular point of time. It’s impossible.
It will definitely create a problem if she signs the scripts as an ‘invigilator’!January 31, 2013 at 4:17 am #76649AnonymousInactiveLogically you are more than 100% right, but practically and also normally this kind of matter does not create any problem if further there is no abnormal situation will create in her School.
January 31, 2013 at 3:58 pm #76672AnonymousInactiveDear friend,
It is always advisable not to create a document which testifies to the illegal/illegitimate act of a person! Putting signature in exam. scripts as an ‘invigilator’ (on duty) on the day of official leave (off duty) is such a documentation of illegal act which is always detrimental to the service life! Both the teacher (for wrong doing) and HM (for knowingly allowing wrongful act) will be in problem if such documents exist! Pls never create an official record of your objectionable act/deed!
In an aided school, a lady teacher was allowed to draw HRA regularly for about 6 years despite sharing central govt. accommodation with her husband. HM knew it right from the beginning. He never asked her to submit any declaration about her husband’s income, and allowed her wrongful act continuously. The same HM asked other lady teachers to submit declaration about their husbands’ income, and deducted the HRA from their salaries as per rules. In one fine morning the HM took initiative and started recovering HRA (more than a lac rupees) from that lady teacher to save his own service when he came under tremendous pressure from DI office!
The same incident happened to another lady teacher in a school even after 2 years of marriage although her HM and other colleagues attended her marriage ceremony. The lady teacher remained OFFICIALLY UNMARRIED for those 2 years in school record and allowed by HM to draw full HRA although her husband’s HRA was more than 6000/- during that period (6th Central Pay Commission) in central govt. service. Ultimately recovery started in several installments!
These are real examples of NORMAL cases! -
