Dear friend,
Co-operation means working together jointly. A Co-operative Society is essentially an autonomous association of persons united voluntarily on the basis of equality to meet common economic, social and cultural needs and aspirations of the members through jointly owned and democratically controlled enterprises by honest means. Co-operative Societies are expected to function according to certain Co-operative Principles as well as per provisions of the Co-operative Societies Act and the Rules. Co-operatives are based on the values of self-help, self-responsibility, democracy, equality, equity and solidarity. In the tradition of their founders, co-operative members believe in the ethical values of honesty, openness, social responsibility and caring for others.
As per latest revision made by the International Co-operative Alliance in 1995, the seven Co-operative Principles are:-
•Voluntary and Open Membership
•Democratic Member Control
•Member Economic Participation
•Autonomy and Independence
•Education, Training and Information
•Co-operation among Co-operatives
•Concern for Community
Co-operatives all over the world have become an effective and potential instrument of economic development. There is not a single major sphere of economic activity which has not been touched by Co-operatives. Co-operatives are also envisaged as an instrument for implementing many important policies like agricultural credit, urban credit, market intervention, price support for agricultural commodities through Co-operative wholesale stores, public distribution system etc.

Dear
10 moybabu, I like to know about the rules and regulations to creat a teachers cooperative in my school. Our teachers have asked me about the same. But cannot answer them correctly. Firstly how and where we have to contact? Who will be the members? What is the minimum number of members to creat a new cooperative? It will be more efective if you give any specific information. Thanking you.October 27, 2012 at 3:05 pm #74985AnonymousInactiveRe: Information about teacher’s co-operative in High School
Dear Tanmaybabu,
We like to establish just teacher’s co-operative, where any staff of our school may be a member. Each of the member can credit there money and anyone can take loan from there legaly. I know, in most of the school, there is a teacher’s co-operative. There will be a legal registration of this cooperative. If the member deposit there money they will get a better rate of interest than any nationalised bank. They can take loan easily from the cooperative, where the rate of interest is lower than the banks and the most important thing is the process is very easy. I have heard these informations from the teachers of the other schools. I may be wrong. So I like to know details from you or from anyone.
Thanking you.January 15, 2013 at 5:11 pm #76407AnonymousInactiveRe: Information about teacher’s co-operative in High School
