We have a registered trust and bought a land through the trust (with our own money) to open a school in West Bengal. We are planning to use M.Ps fund to build the school, what happens later will we be able to run the school own our own or the govt will have a stake or hand in it, (regarding management, appointment, and the RTE act). What will the school be called( private, aided or sponsored or any other name). Please help me out here.December 4, 2012 at 7:42 pm #75863AnonymousInactiveA school is an educational institution where the students study under the supervision of a teacher. Even though the Non-Government aided school and private school are the institutions imparting education, the structure of the schools differs in many ways. Non-Government aided school is an institution owned by a private management but the functionalities in there are controlled by the concerned State Government. Private schools (Non-Govt. unaided) are the institutions fully owned and controlled by the private management.
•Non-Government aided schools are owned by the private management but the rules and regulations followed here are as per the government norms where the private schools are fully owned and controlled by the private managements.
•The admission to government schools is open to all students without any specific criteria whereas in private schools the admission will be based on some specific criterion.
•The curriculum, fee structure, etc in aided schools are according to the decision of government whereas in private schools all those things are controlled by the management governing it.
In sponsored schools, Govt. provides the land for construction of school building and, bears the financial responsibilities for its infrastructural development. Management run partly by Govt. and partly by Pvt.
So, your school may come under the category of Non-Govt. Aided School which will be in receipt of grants-in-aid from the State Govt. for pay & allowances of teaching and non-teaching staffs. I think contribution from MP fund is not available to a Pvt. Institution because it’s public money.December 5, 2012 at 10:08 am #75873AnonymousInactivethank you for the information but i would be very happy if you could answer my questions directly. still a little bit confused……………….

The management structure of Government Sponsored schools has a distinguishing feature. It is partly nominated by the govt. and partly elected.

Category of schools in WB:
(1) Govt. school: Entirely govt.-run.
(2) Non-govt. aided: Most of the schools under WBBSE are non-Government but government-aided. Some of the Anglo-Indian schools too come under this category. There is no tuition fee up to Class XII. The salaries of the teachers of these schools including the post retirement benefits are borne by the State Government. Some aspects of service rules differ from those of govt. schools. These schools are under Pvt. management.
(3) Govt. sponsored: Similar to aided schools in respect of salary and service rules. No tuition fee levied. However, they are funded by govt. for acquisition of land and construction of school building as well as for further infrastructural development required in due course of time. Run under mixed management – partly nominated by the govt. & partly elected.
(4) Pvt. DA getting school: There are few pvt. schools which charge tuition fees from the students, and do not receive salary component from the Government. The schools generate salaries by charging fees. They obtain aid in the form of Dearness Allowance (DA) from the government. In case of selections of staffs school would also have to maintain a transparent selection process as prescribed by the State and/or the Board from time to time. Schools are entirely under Pvt. management. Mostly affiliated to CBSE/ICSE Boards. Example: Salt Lake English School (N 24 Pgs.), Morapai Loreto Girls’ Junior High School (S 24 Pgs.), The Calcutta Orphanage Technical School (Kolkata), Muslim Orphanage Industrial School (Kolkata), Maliara Industrial School (Bankura), R.G. Girls’ Industrial School (Krishnanagar), Krishnagar Mahila Silpa Vidyalaya (Krishnanagar).
(5) Pvt. school: These schools do not take any support from the State Government. They support themselves through generating funds by charging tuition fees. Mostly affiliated to CBSE/ICSE Boards. Process of selection of staffs is regulated totally by the school as per eligibility criteria prescribed by the State/Board. Schools are entirely under Pvt. management. -
