NOTIFICATION
WHEREAS, the erstwhile district of Jalpaiguri has been bifurcated into two districts – Jalpaiguri district and Alipurduar district – vide Notification No. 634-PAR(AR)/0/2R-4/12 dated 20.06.2014 of the Personnel & Administrative Reforms Department, Government of West Bengal;
AND, WHEREAS, the bifurcation as aforementioned necessitates that the existing Motor Vehicles Office at Alipurduar be upgraded into a full-fledged District Office equipped with necessary manpower resources and brought under the control and supervision of the District Magistrate, Alipurduar;
AND, WHEREAS, the Cabinet Memorandum of the Transport Department vide No. 4410-WT/TR/O/12E-21/2014 dated 07.11.2014 in the above context containing, inter-alia, a proposal for creation of 2 (two) new posts viz. one (1) post of Regional Transport Officer (RTO) and one (1) post of Additional Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) for the proposed upgraded office in Alipurduar was placed before the Cabinet with the concurrence of the Finance Department vide their U.O. No. Group P2/2014-2015/2215 dated 08/09/2014;
AND, WHEREAS, the Cabinet in its meeting dated 07.11.2014 accorded approval to the proposal of the Transport Department as contained in the Cabinet Memorandum and a Decision to that effect was taken for upgrading the Motor Vehicles Office at Alipurduar and creating two (2) posts viz. one (1) post of Regional Transport Officer (RTO) and one (1) post of Additional Regional Transport Officer (ARTO);
AND, WHEREAS, the Cabinet Decision No. 43 dated 07/11/2014 taken on the basis of required inputs provided both by the Transport Department and the Finance Department requires to be acted upon;
NOW, THEREFORE, the Governor is hereby pleased to direct that the existing Motor Vehicles Office at Alipurduar be upgraded and brought under the full control and supervision of the District Magistrate, Alipurduar.
The Governor is further pleased to sanction and create one (1) post of Regional Transport Officer (RTO) and one (1) post of Additional Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) for the said upgraded office in the district of Alipurduar.
The entire process of upgradation of the aforesaid office shall be completed within a period of Six (6) months from the date of publication of this Notification in the Official Gazette.
This takes immediate effect.
