The aim of the West Bengal State Disaster Management Policy is to establish necessary systems, structures, programs, resources, capabilities and guiding principles for reducing disaster risks and preparing for and responding to disasters and threats of disasters.
The objective of the State Disaster Management Plan, West Bengal is to facilitate execution of activities for prevention and preparedness, operations, coordination, and community awareness and involvement.
It is necessary to provide a suitable handbook to the practitioners of disaster management in the public sector as guide within a set parameter.
State Disaster Mitigation Fund (SDMF) consists of 20 percent of the State Disaster Risk Management Fund (SDRMF). The balance 80 percent will go to the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF).
In terms of the provisions under Disaster Management Act 2005 read with West Bengal Epidemic Disease, Covid-19 Regulations 2020, restriction and relaxation measures and advisory as already in force shall stand extended up to 15/03/2022.
After a review of the current situation of COVID pandemic, State Executive Committee of West Bengal State Disaster Management Authority recommended further extension of restriction measures upto 30.09.2021.
Swasthya Sathi for workers/ volunteers like the Members of Self Help Groups, Civic Police Volunteers, Green Police Volunteers, Civil Defence Volunteers, Village Police Volunteers at Gram Panchayat, Disaster Management workers, Home Guard/ NVF, ASHA workers, ICDS workers and other Contractual/ Casual/ Daily rated workers.
