NOTIFICATION
In exercise of the powers conferred by the proviso to article 309 of the Constitution of India, the Governor is pleased hereby to amend the West Bengal Services (Death-cum Retirement Benefit) Rules, 1971 (hereinafter referred to as the said rules), in the following manner:-
Amendment
In the said rules, for sub-clause (1) of clause (e) of sub-rule (1) of rule 7, substitute the following clause and sub-clause:-
‘(e) “family” includes the following relatives of Government servant namely:
(1) for the purpose of death gratuity,
(i) wife in the case of a male officer,
(ii) husband in the case of a female officer,
(iii) sons including stepsons,
(iv) unmarried/ widowed and divorced daughters (including stepdaughters),
(v) brothers below the age of 18 years and unmarried or widowed sisters,
(vi) father,
(vii) mother,
(viii) married daughters.
Note:- Any undisposed case in respect of divorced daughters or married daughters where the death of employee has occurred prior to coming into force of this notification may be considered and disposed of by the administrative Department in the light of this notification.’.
