Governor is pleased to re-constitute, the West Bengal Commission for Backward Classes, consisting of the following Members. The Chairman and every Member shall hold office for a term of three years from the date he or she assumes office.
Hiring of 100 Data Entry Operators under Backward Classes Welfare Department through agency for a period of one year at a hiring charge not exceeding Rs. 11,000/- per month.
Pursuant to Rule 17A in The Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Rules 1995, Sub-Division Level Vigilance and Monitoring Committee may be constituted.
Last date for issuance of OBC certificates has been extended to 31st December, 2013. Fresh certificates on surrender of the original certificates by the holders or old certificates may be revalidated mentioning Category-A or Category-B.
The powers and functions of the Commission have been vested as per the provisions of the West Bengal Commission for Backward Classes Act,1993. The Act has been in the process of amendment from time to time.

A Member/Pradhan of a Gram Panchayat, Member/Sabhapati of Panchayat Samity, Member of Zilla Parishad, Commissioner of Municipality, Councillor/Chairman/Mayor of Municipal Corporation, Member of State Legislature, Member of Parliament, and any Group ‘A’ Officer of State Government.
While applying for caste certificates some candidates are taking unfair means by suppression/ misrepresentation of facts or by altering name/ surname to their advantage.
The beneficiaries of this scheme are the students of whose parents are flayers, tanners, scavengers, waste picking/ collecting or engaged in similar other profession.
