Government of West Bengal has conducted a sample survey to ascertain the relative backwardness of the classes to be included in the list of backward classes.

Competent Authority to Issue SC/ ST Certificates in West Bengal

Deputy Director, Backward Classes Welfare, West Bengal and Commissioner, Backward Classes Welfare, West Bengal in case of candidates claiming to be Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe residing in any part of West Bengal.

Reservation of Vacancies in Services and Posts

There shall be reservation of 22% for members of Scheduled Caste, 6% for members of Scheduled Tribe. There is no reservation for Backward Class candidate for promotion.
