Promotion and regulation of Higher Education and Cultural development including Technical or specialized education in the State Universities and Colleges.
All Principal/Officer-in-charge/Teacher-in-charge of Government and Government-aided colleges of the state are advised to implement the total percentage of reservation i.r.o the Scheduled Castes (22%), the Scheduled Tribes (6%), the Other Backward Classes Category A (10%) and the Other Backward Classes Category B (7%).
No elected representative like Municipal Commissioner, Councilor of Municipal Corporation, any elected member of three-tire Panchayat System or GTA, MLA or MP is entitled to issue Residential/ Domicile Certificate.
The reservation norms shall apply on and from the Academic Session 2014-15 to all Universities, Government colleges, colleges and other institutions receiving aid from the State Government.
Reservation of seats shall not exceed 45% (SC-22%, ST-6%, OBC-A-10% & OBC-B-7%). Persons with disabilities will enjoy a 3% reservation in each of the categories.
All Principal/ Teacher-in-Charge/ Officer-in-Charge of Govt. and Govt. Aided Colleges are requested to cooperate for holding the TET conducted by the West Bengal Board of Primary Education scheduled on 30.03.2014.
From the academic year 2014-15, admissions to all UG courses (Honours and General) in State-funded higher education institutions in West Bengal shall be through online merit-based admission system.
Only Rs. 22000/- was decided as admission fees for each student-teacher taking admission into two year B.Ed course through ODL mode. Violation of the above scheduled fee-structure will be viewed seriously.
State Government in the Higher Education Department, taking into account the local conditions, has decided to prescribe qualifications and norms for recruitment to the post of Principal in Government-aided/ affiliated General Degree Colleges as well as B.Ed. Colleges.
All such post/ engagement and in particular the post of Vice Principal in any college as mentioned be abolished forthwith excepting in recognized minority colleges.
An Act to provide for reservation of seats for admission of the students belonging to SC, ST, OBC to certain Higher Educational Institutions in the State of West Bengal which are established, maintained or aided by the State Government.
