Transport Department operates from the State Administrative Buildings, i.e. Writers’ Buildings. The Kolkata RTO office is known as Public Vehicles Department.
Governor is hereby pleased to empower the following officers of Public Vehicles Department, Kolkata to act as Taxing Officers, for the region of Kolkata as described in terms of Rule 2(b) of the West Bengal Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, in addition to the existing ones.
The existing fares of Meter Taxi (Contract Carriage) shall be fixed as per Schedule given below. New fares shall take effect from 11.06.2018.

Registering Authorities will henceforth register the vehicles as per laws and rules and on satisfaction of compliance of all the technical points and standards as are enshrined.
Bike-taxis shall be used as a Contract Carriage. The service provider shall develop an app for the use of the hirer which should be informative in all respects.
Governor is hereby pleased to direct that henceforth the RTAs of this State will issue/ renew the National Permits to the motor vehicles registered in their respective regions.
Deputy Commissioners of Police (Traffic) of all the Police Commissionerates and Superintendents of Police empowered to disqualify offending drivers from holding any driving licence.
On receipt of intimation of release of subsidy in his favour by WBTIDCL to the concerned Gatidhara-Facilitator (dealer), the applicant shall contact the facilitator and get his vehicle registered within 10 (ten) days from the date of release of subsidy.
