With reference to the Memo No. 310-Edn(T)/4E-10/12(Pt.-II) dated 02/05/2016 of the Higher Education Department, Govt. of West Bengal, it is hereby informed to all concerned that in exercise of the powers conferred by section 21 of the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board Act, 2014 (West Bengal Act XIV of 2014), the Governor has been pleased to direct the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board to conduct the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations, 2016 on 17th May, 2016 in General/professional Degree Colleges/ Institutes of the State in addition to other centres (list enclosed). Whereas, it is necessary to ensure an environment conducive to conduct the competitive examination in the designated centres (Colleges/Institutes), the regular academic and other activities in the institutions mentioned in the schedule and located in West Bengal shall need to be closed for the above-mentioned day for enabling to conduct the said examination involving a large number of students.
The authorities of the concerned colleges/institutes (list enclosed) are advised to declare a ‘local holiday’ and issue suitable instructions to the staff of the concerned General/professional degree College/Institute for full co-operation with the Joint Entrance Examinations Board for the purpose of conducting the Joint Entrance Examinations, 2016 on 17th May, 2016 in the interest of public service.
