Para teachers have been engaged under SSA from time to time in the State of West Bengal. The orders regarding their duties, renewal of the contract of a para teacher, remuneration, leave rules etc. can be found here.
Para teachers will perform three major duties – (a) Remedial teaching (b) Child tracking (c) Teaching Learning Material (TLM) preparation for activity based learning in School.
The amount of one time terminal benefit for the contractual personnel on attaining the age of 60/65 years will be enhanced to Rs. 5.00 lakh from 2.00 lakh/ 3.00 lakh
Child tracking means tracking students who absent themselves from schools by visiting their houses and meeting their family and trying to bring them back to school.
Academic qualifications, Training, performance in the TET, Extra Curricular activities, Viva voce or Interview and Aptitude test or Teaching experience in case of Para-Teacher, shall be computed.
State Government will bear the expenditure if the Government of India stops funding the PBSSM Project before their cessation of engagement attaining 60 years of age.
No of periods in school routine shall not exceed 20 in 5 days of a week where a para teacher attends school. However, stop gap classes may be allotted to para teachers as well under unavoidable circumstances.
All Para Teachers, VRP and Siksha Bandhus will now be engaged by the District Project Officer on the basis of the recommendation of a District Level Committee consisting of following members.
Governor has been pleased to accord approval for an yearly enhancement of remuneration @ 3% in respect of Para teachers and other categories of personnel engaged under SSM, SSK and MSK teachers who have been brought under School Education Department in the recent past.
On attaining 60 years of age or winding up of this project the Para teachers or other contractual employee as shown above will be paid an exgratia Retirement Honorarium of Rs. 1 (One) Lakh only on lump sum basis.
