Press Release
The Higher Education Department’s Notification dated 28/2/2014 (Introduction of Online Admissions into UG courses of General Degree Colleges affiliated under State-aided Universities for the Academic Session 2014-15) stands withdrawn, with immediate effect.
Consequent to a review of the preparedness of the Universities and colleges in this regard, it has been found that there are some systemic deficiencies, including infrastructural constraints, which still need to be addressed before the online admission system can be rolled out efficiently across the State.
After considering all aspects of the matter, the Higher Education Department has taken a considered view that it will not be prudent to start the University-based online system until the systemic deficiencies are addressed and resolved, in a time-bound manner.
The withdrawal of the Department’s Notification dated 28/2/2014 means that for admission to UG courses for academic session 2014-15, each higher education institution is free to follow the admission procedure of its choice. Those institutions having the requisite infrastructure and desirous of adopting the online system, are at liberty to do so.
For the ensuing academic session 2014-15, the University/ college authorities are being advised to take necessary measures to start the admission process for UG courses, starting with distribution of admission forms, etc. by 10 June 2014 and complete the admission process expeditiously, as per the respective University’s norms.
