NOTIFICATION
Subject: Adoption of (i) PWD (NH) Schedule of Rates as the common Schedule of Rates for all Road Works/ Bridge Works and allied works & (ii) CPWD Schedule of Rates (DSR) for Building Works executed by the Public Works Department including NH Wing of this Department.
The Schedule of Rates (SoR) (Volumes I, II & III) published by the Public Works Department, Government of West Bengal, is a vital technical document that provides standardized rates for various items of work relating to Building, Sanitary & Plumbing and Road & Bridge Works. It serves as the primary reference for preparation of estimates, framing of project costs, tendering, and execution of public works. A significant changes in material prices, labour wages, technology and market conditions have been noticed after the last comprehensive revision (2017-2018) of the SoR. So, a full-scale revision of the PWD Schedule of Rates is necessitated to ensure that the SORs remain a reliable, realistic, and up-to-date benchmark for public works in West Bengal for better financial management and efficient project execution.
Now, the Governor has been pleased to notify-
(i) Adoption of the PWD (NH) Schedule of Rates as the common Schedule of Rates for all Road/ Bridge Works under the Public Works Department, West Bengal including NH Wing of this Department,
(ii) Adoption of the DSR (Delhi Schedule of Rates) of CPWD Schedule of Rates for Building Works under the Public Works Department, West Bengal in general and to issue a separate booklet of SoR from State PWD containing few minor items and maintenance nature of works to address issue of non-availability of the same in the DSR of CPWD,
(iii) Authorization to the Schedule of Rates Committee of State PWD to undertake periodic revision and publication of the SoR for Road & Bridge works and Building works.
This order issues with the concurrence of Finance Department, Group-T vide their U.O.No. Group-F/2026-2027/0016 dated 29.06.2026 in e-file bearing computer no. 1457062 and also with the approval of Cabinet on vide Cabinet Sectt, U/O No. CAB(D)-68 dated: 02.07.2026 in Physical file bearing no. 1M-24/26.
The existing PWD Schedule of Rates (SoR) (Volumes I, II & III) are hereby superseded.
This order will take immediate effect.
