This department has been vested with the responsibility of maintaining and developing the health care system in W.B. Public health, sanitation and hospitals are the exclusive responsibilities of the State.
As per recommendation of the Multi-disciplinary Expert Group, there will be one single central clinical laboratory at those secondary and primary care hospitals for more patient friendly approach.
Rogi Sahayata Kendras are of absolute necessity for effective and successful implementation of RSBY in the Govt. Hospitals considering the workload and non-availability of dedicated manpower for RSBY.
Written permission has to be obtained well in advance before proceeding on leave. At least incumbent has to apply for permission of leave before 15 (fifteen) working days prior to proceed on leave to competent authority.
Medical Officers will attend IPGMER for training expected to be started from 27th January ’14 and end on 26th March ’14. Nursing Personnel will attend MR Bangur Hospital for training expected to be started from 27th January ’14.
The Superintendents are directed to Constitute 11 (eleven) Quality Circles in their hospital for Quality improvement and each such Circle must have at least one member trained at Swasthya Bhawan.

Admission to the first year B.Sc. Nursing Course in the Nursing Colleges in West Bengal will be available from 16th July 2013 to 29th July 2013 from the office of the Central Selection Committee (Nursing) at West Bengal Government College of Nursing, Kolkata.
State level Advisory Committee (SLAC-CCU) has been constituted to advise the department on the prioritization of establishment of CCUs in different government hospitals and management of critical care services in the CCUs so set up.
Selection as Trainee Reserve will be strictly on the basis of merit, i.e. marks obtained in concerned Entrance Examination. Candidates should apply for obtaining No Objection Certificate in the prescribed format enclosed together with this.
