Subject: Admission of students in elementary classes in all Govt. and Govt. aided schools in the State of West Bengal for the academic session, 2012.
Madam/Sir,
With reference to the above I am directed to inform you that the issue in question was discussed in Cabinet meeting held on 16/11/2011 and it has been decided that lottery system for the purpose of admission of students in elementary classes for the academic session, 2012 will be followed.
I am therefore, further directed to inform you that the order issued vide this Deptt. No. 628-SE(Pry)/10M-186/2010 dated 12.10.2011 shall stand valid and to be followed meticulously regarding admission of students for the academic session, 2012. Moreover, I am directed to say that in case where a school has both Primary and Secondary section, there will be no lottery for students already admitted in the primary section. In case there are any excess seats after admission of existing students only then there may be a lottery at class-V for filling up the additional seats.
