Various preparatory activities in connection with the General Elections to the Lok Sabha 2014 are going on in full swing at present in all the districts of West Bengal as per the Standing instructions of the Election Commission of India. One of the important preparatory activities is the finalization of the list of Polling Stations.
It is mandatory to prepare and publish fresh Electoral Rolls as per West Bengal Primary Education (Constitution of Electorate, preparation and publication of Electoral Rolls for Election to the primary school councils) Rules, 1981.

Membership of candidates of all District Primary School Councils of this state who were elected under Zilla Parishad Members’ category and Panchayat Samity Members’ category pursuant to the election conducted by this Department in the month of November-2010 shall deemed to be terminated after publication of results of Panchayat General Election 2013.
Postponement of Election for the constitution/ re-constitution of the Managing Committee of the recognized Secondary Schools for the ensuing Municipal Elections to be held on 21st September, 2013.
There is a situation prevailing in some Municipalities in the state where their terms have expired and the tenure of the Ward Education Committee (WECs) have expired and new WECs would be reconstituted only after the Municipal Election is completed; AND WHEREAS, it would be possible to form the new WECs only after the Municipal Election is completed;
