Sub: Category wise distribution of works involving electrical and electronic devices and IT & Telecom equipments amongst the Executing Authorities of PWD.
For the Past few years, PWD is being entrusted with projects involving complete building setup comprising of a wide range of electrical and electronic devices and IT & Telecom equipments to be installed to serve the purpose of the user authority as per their requirement.
Out of the above, primarily two categories of devices and equipments are deployed – (A) firstly, those belonging to consumer durables viz. Television Sets, Refrigerators, All type of Air-conditioners Microwave ovens, Air-purifiers, Water purifier, Fire alarm system etc. and (B) secondly, those comprising industrial electronic products viz. EPABX, CCTV set up, Wireless and Wired networking for computers, Firewall and switching devices, computer and peripherals, audio and video systems etc and customised application software.
In absence of clear demarcation of duties, there has been some confusion in entrusting the above works among electrical and IT wing of PWD, causing unnecessary delay in execution.
After careful consideration of the entire matter, the Governor has been pleased to demarcate the aforesaid works along with the executing authorities in the following manner –
i) Consumer durables may be procured and installed with maintenance works by the Electrical Divisions concerned of PWD, as given at ‘A’ above.
ii) Industrial, electronic and telecommunications products may be procured, installed and maintained by the IT Wings of PWD as given at ‘B’ above except Assembly House & Netaji Indoor Stadium & Kshudiram Anusilan Kendra.
This will take immediate effect.
