Governor has been pleased to enhance the rate of grants for Garments & Beddings paid to ashramities of S.C. Ashram Hostels attached to different educational institutions.

West Bengal Commission for Backward Classes Act, Rules etc.
The powers and functions of the Commission have been vested as per the provisions of the West Bengal Commission for Backward Classes Act,1993. The Act has been in the process of amendment from time to time.

Amendment of SC/ ST Reservation in Services and Posts Act, 2012
West Bengal Backward Classes (Other than Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Reservation of Vacancies in Services and Posts) Act, 2012, the Governor is pleased hereby to amend the Schedule-II appended to the said Act.

WHEREAS by Backward Classes Welfare department’s Notification No. 1673-BCW dated 11.05.2012, the Backward classes were specified and categorized in the list below.

Attestation is Mandatory while seeking SC/ST/OBC Certificate
BCWD will accept self-attested documents in all cases except for proving the permanent residential status of applicants seeking SC/ST/OBC certificates where photocopies are to be attested by Group A/B officers.
