Panchayats and Rural Development Department is entrusted with the responsibility of constitution and framing policy related to functioning of the rural local self-government, i.e. the Panchayats.
The West Bengal Panchayat (Gram Panchayat Accounts, Audit and Budget) Rules, 2007 published vide No. 4396-PN dated 27th September, 2007.
Unskilled worker working in MGNREGS in West Bengal shall get Rs. 169.00 for a day’s work. Likewise a semi-skilled and skilled worker shall get wages at the rate of Rs. 253.50 and Rs. 338.00 respectively.
Scheme regulating all rural unskilled workers, who are registered under Mahatma Gandhi NREGS through Job Cards, are eligible to get employment under the scheme Karmashree through various departmental works.

The unemployment allowance payable shall be paid to the applicant of a household subject to the entitlement of the household at a rate equal to one-fourth of the prevailing wage of the scheme for the first thirty (30) days during the financial year and at a rate equal to half of the wage rate for the remaining period of the financial year.
