Public Works Department provides infrastructural support for both original and repair works to all the departments directly under the Govt. of West Bengal.

Governor is pleased, in the interest public service, to engage Sub-Assistant Engineers on contractual basis through placement agency of WBHDCL in different divisions of PWD at a consolidate remuneration of Rs. 15000/- only.
It is in need to specifically assign the jurisdiction in respect of some existing Chief Engineers and some newly created Chief Engineers for the following:
Governor has already been pleased to create 28 numbers additional posts of Chief Engineers belonging to the Engineering Cadre under PWD.
Existing 41 numbers of non-functional berth of Superintending Engineer [Selection Grade] is hereby converted into the post of Senior Superintending Engineers belonging to the Engineering Cadres.
Governor is further pleased to direct that a Bid Evaluation Committee (BEC) be constituted under Superintending Engineers who are the tender inviting authorities for all works beyond the tender accepting power of Executive Engineers.
In partial modification of Notification No. 236 dated 27.12.2013, the Governor is pleased in the interest of public service to make certain modifications in reallocation of duties of NH Divisions under NH Wing of P.W. (Roads) Dte.
