Governor is pleased to allot/reallot the Code Nos. to the Registering Authorities for the new twenty one Motor Vehicle offices and the existing offices in the State of West Bengal.
Transport
Transport Department operates from the State Administrative Buildings, i.e. Writers’ Buildings. The Kolkata RTO office is known as Public Vehicles Department.

Governor is pleased to sanction the opening of the three (3) new Motor Vehicles Offices (ARTO Offices) at Arambagh, Haldia and Ghatal in the public interest.
Upgradation of Motor Vehicles Office at Alipurduar District
District of Jalpaiguri has been bifurcated into two districts – Jalpaiguri district and Alipurduar district. Hence, existing Motor Vehicles Office at Alipurduar be upgraded and brought under full control and supervision of District Magistrate, Alipurduar.

New Office/ Unit of Public Vehicles Department at Behala
Opening of a new Office/ Unit of the Public Vehicles Department at Upen Banerjee Road, Beside Behala Airport, Kolkata in addition to one at Kasba and other at Bidhannagar (Salt Lake).
Regional Transport Authority will act as Registering Authority
Governor is pleased to direct that all Regional Transport Authorities in West Bengal will act as Registering Authority for the purpose of the Carriage by Road Act, 2007.
Delegation of Financial Power to Grant Subsidy in Transport
To grant subsidy for payment of salary, pension and retirement benefits in respect of the existing employees of the Transport Corporations and also for the employees whose appointments under the Transport Corporations.
Use of Red/ Blue Light and Flasher on Top of Vehicle
If red or blue light is affixed to a hired vehicle, then such hired vehicle shall be used only for official purposes and only when the concerned dignitary /official concerned is using such vehicle himself or herself. Use of such hired vehicles with red or blue lights beyond office hours for non-official purposes is strictly prohibited.
Permit of Metered Taxi for Siliguri and Jalpaiguri
Regional Transport Authority, Siliguri shall issue Contract Carriage permits to Metered Taxis i.e. Motor Cab (of Air-conditioned and/or Non-air-conditioned type) to operate within the jurisdiction of Siliguri Jalpaiguri Development Authority and the area of Siliguri Sub-division.
Delegation of Power to Grant Subsidy in Transport
Governor has been pleased to empower the Transport Secretary to the Government of West Bengal to grant subsidy for payment of salary, pension and retirement benefits in respect of employees of the Transport Corporations.
