Sub: Suspension of classes due to heat wave and cyclonic storm.

Sir/Madam,

Due to predicted severe cyclonic storm “Foni” likely to hit coastal areas of West Bengal and extreme hot weather conditions prevailing in the State it has been decided that classes will remain suspended in all Government, Govt. Sponsored and Non- Govt. aided schools (Primary to Higher Secondary) from 3rd May, 2019 to 30th June, 2019.

You are requested to advice all schools under your respective control accordingly. You are also requested to recommended similar action to all un-aided schools under your control.

This may please be treated as urgent.

Sir/Madam,

In continuation of earlier letter no. 58-COMM/SE/S/10M-46/2019 dated 2nd May 2019 this is to further clarify that:

  1. All Govt./ Govt. Sponsored/ Non Govt. aided Schools in the State shall remain closed on 3rd and 4th May, 2019 due to predicted severe Cyclonic Storm FANI.
  2. Due to prevailing heat wave all the aforesaid schools shall remain closed from 06.05.2019 till commencement of summer vacation from 20.05.2019 as declared by West Bengal Board of Secondary Education and West Bengal Board of Primary Education earlier which will continue as per usual norms.
  3. After completion of summer vacation the above mentioned schools shall remain closed till 30.6.2019 due to anticipated extreme weather condition.

You are requested to advise all schools under your respective control accordingly. You are also requested to recommend similar action to all un-aided schools under your control.
