A Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) is an undergraduate professional degree which prepares students for work as a teacher in schools. This is mandatory for teaching at the secondary and higher secondary level.
Provided in-service teachers will be allowed ‘A’ category scale of pay from the date of attainment of such qualification of D.El.Ed. However persons already possessing D.El.Ed qualification before their entry as a Pry. School Teacher.

Upper ceiling of Admission Fees for B.Ed./ B.P.Ed./ M.Ed./ M.P.Ed. Programme (2 year) in West Bengal is Rs. 75,000/- only per annum per student, for the academic session 2015-2017.
50% of the seats in Government/ Government-aided B. Ed. Colleges/ B.Ed. Departments of State-aided Universities are to be reserved for untrained in-service/ deputed teachers of Classes IX-XII.
During admission in B.Ed courses in the NCTE recognized Institutions, 50 percent seats for Deputed Teachers and 50 percent for the Freshers will be reserved particularly for the teachers teaching for class IX onwards in the coming academic sessions.
B. Ed. Course of untrained Upper Primary School Teachers through ODL Mode will be organised by Netaji Subhas Open University through different NCTE approved B.Ed. colleges of this state.

In case of State-aided Unitary Universities, 5% Seats are to be reserved for untrained deputed school teachers of Classes V-XII, subject to their eligibility as per NCTE Regulations.
Only Rs. 22000/- was decided as admission fees for each student-teacher taking admission into two year B.Ed course through ODL mode. Violation of the above scheduled fee-structure will be viewed seriously.
The approved working untrained Assistant Teachers of the recognized Non-Government Aided Secondary Schools must have to undergo B.Ed. training course for TWO years as per NCTE norms.
