Shishu Sathi Scheme for Children
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee flagged off a scheme named Shishu Sathi, on 21.08.2013 to provide free treatment to children who need heart surgeries, irrespective of how rich or poor the parents are.
This department has been vested with the responsibility of maintaining and developing the health care system in W.B. Public health, sanitation and hospitals are the exclusive responsibilities of the State.

Payment of monthly fixed honorarium to the ASHAs at the rate of Rs. 1300.00 only per month per ASHA with effect from 01.04.2013 until further orders in addition to their monthly performance based incentive received by them as usual, from NRHM fund.
