This department has been vested with the responsibility of maintaining and developing the health care system in W.B. Public health, sanitation and hospitals are the exclusive responsibilities of the State.

  • Shishu Sathi Scheme for Children

    Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee flagged off a scheme named Shishu Sathi, on 21.08.2013 to provide free treatment to children who need heart surgeries, irrespective of how rich or poor the parents are.

  • Fixed Monthly Honorarium ASHAs

    Payment of monthly fixed honorarium to the ASHAs at the rate of Rs. 1300.00 only per month per ASHA with effect from 01.04.2013 until further orders in addition to their monthly performance based incentive received by them as usual, from NRHM fund.

  • Enhancement of Contractual Remuneration of Senior Residents

    Contractual remuneration of the Senior Residents after enhancement would amount to i. Senior Residents having PG Diploma @ Rs. 65,000/- ii. Senior Residents having PG Degree @ Rs. 70,000/- iii. Senior Residents having Post Doctoral Degree @ Rs. 75,000/- per month.

  • Labour Room Protocol

    Labour Room Protocol must be made available to every service provider attached to Labour Room/ Maternity ward of all MCH, DH, SDH, RH, BPHC.

  • State Level Committee for Swasthya Sathi

    A State Level Committee is constituted to oversee the implementation of ‘Swasthya Sathi’ for the workers, volunteers engaged in various development programmes.

  • Prohibition Order of Gutkha and Pan Masala

    The manufacture, storage, sale or distribution of gutkha and panmasala containing tobacco and/or nicotine as ingredients, is hereby prohibited for a period of one year with effect from 01.05.2013 in West Bengal.
