Public Works Department provides infrastructural support for both original and repair works to all the departments directly under the Govt. of West Bengal.

The different circles under NH Wing of PW (R) Dte. have been reorganized vide Notification No. 236 dt. 27.12.2013. Now, the Governor is pleased to change the jurisdiction of Sub-Divisions under various NH Divisions of NH Wing of PW (R) Dte.
Estimates for works originating in districts can only be vetted by the respective Superintending Engineers/ Zonal Chief Engineers.

Requisitioning departments to decide the acceptance of tender or decision of re-tendering and other related issues, once tenders are finalised by PWD Engineering Officers since administrative approval and financial sanction for the project/ scheme is originally accorded by the Department concerned.
