Department of Housing undertakes various activities mainly relating to the framing and implementation of various Social Housing schemes through the Directorate of Housing and Housing Board.
In order to cater to the housing needs of the Lower Income Group and the Middle Income Group, the Housing Department felt the need to make provisions for affordable housing, and decided to introduce a new Housing Scheme, namely ‘NIJASHREE’.
The Hostels are meant for the working women who have no residence in the city of Kolkata. No non working women will be eligible for admission. Any women employed either in Central Govt./ State Govt./ Public Sector Undertaking/ Private Ltd. Company & earning not less than Rs. 5000/- per month duly certified by her employer will be treated as a working woman.
The objectives of this Scheme, “Snehalaya” is to provide pucca dwelling housing unit to people not owning pucca house in his or her name or in the name of any family member in West Bengal.
An Act to establish the Housing Industry Regulatory Authority for regulation and promotion of the housing sector and to ensure sale of plot, apartment or budding, as the case may be, or sale of real estate project, in an efficient and transparent manner and to protect the interest of consumers in the real estate sector and to establish a mechanism for speedy dispute redressal and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.
