State Government in the Higher Education Department has decided to prescribe the following qualifications and norms for recruitment to the post of Principal in Government-aided/ affiliated Degree Colleges.

SUBJECT: Reservation of Economically Weaker Sections (EWSs) in admission in the Higher Educational Institution in the State of West Bengal.
Eligibility Criteria, Qualifications and Norms for Direct Recruitment to the post of Principal in Government-aided Teachers’ Training Colleges of West Bengal.
Prescribed Qualifications for Recruitment to the Post of Assistant Professor in Government-aided Teachers’ Training Colleges and Teachers’ Training Department of General Degree Colleges.
The arrangement provides interest subsidy to the extent that the students have to bear interest burden of only 4% p.a. at simple rate during the full period of the education loans without providing any collateral security and third-party guarantee, for pursuing education from class 10 onwards.
Students residing in West Bengal above 10 years. Loan will be available for undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral and post-doctoral study in India or abroad. Students till the age of 40 years of age are eligible for the scheme.
Medical benefits to the serving Teachers including Librarians and Graduate Laboratory Instructors of Government-aided Colleges and serving Teachers and Officers of State aided Universities.
To encourage the spread of higher education in under-served mofussil areas away from Kolkata, where significant demand exists for college studies, considering the steady increase in the number of high school pass outs across the State.
